First Visit Expectations and Important Forms
What to Expect on Your First Visit
During an initial screen at Hancock Vein & Surgical Center, you will complete a questionnaire that will outline your venous and general health issues. We offer the option of providing your medical history online from home via a patient portal that is easily accessed.
A venous duplex ultrasound may be completed during that visit or scheduled at a future appointment. You will meet with Dr. Hancock thereafter to review your findings and discuss treatment alternatives. If you have not already been instructed to wear compression stockings, you will likely be advised to start in order to meet insurance prerequisites for eligibility to proceed with most procedures. We will soon be offering fittings for compression stockings and provide a variety of stockings for immediate purchase.
If you have documented reflux and are an eligible candidate for endovenous ablation, a surgery date will be selected and you will be given preoperative instructions. A predetermination letter will be submitted on your behalf to your insurance company that will be confirmed with you prior to the scheduled procedure. During one of your office visits, our practice manager will do a financial review with you and assist with insurance matters to ensure that financial expectations are clearly outlined. Most insurance companies cover treatment for symptomatic reflux disease. Cosmetic procedures are not covered by insurance; however, we provide treatment at competitive pricing to help patients get back their attractive legs.
